2018 was yet another eventful year for AquariumKids. Some of our highlights include reaching the milestone of 200,000 followers, turning five years old, and helping spread Jr Ocean Guardians' No Straw November campaign. Here's what we've been up to:


January:

  • January 30th: New video—“Least Killifish (Heterandria formosa) swimming while giving birth.”

February:

  • February 28th: New video—“Elephant Seals Fighting at Año Nuevo.”

March:

  • March 1st: AquariumKids is featured in The Campanile.
  • March 31st: New video—“The Top Five Tank Mates for Oscars”

April:

  • April 25th: New video—“Yellowhead Jawfish Digging at the Via Aquarium”

May:

  • May 14th: May Menu Update
  • May 17th: AquariumKids reaches 10,000 Facebook page likes.
  • May 21st: May Homepage Update
  • May 21st: AquariumKids reaches 50,000 Facebook page likes.
  • May 30th: New video—“Sturgeon Poacher, Sea Anemone, & Hawaiian Flagtail at the Seattle Aquarium”

June:

  • June 5th: AquariumKids releases a map of aquaria in the United States.
  • June 17th: AquariumKids is featured in Palo Alto Pulse.
  • June 21st: New video—“How do you make a DIY coconut hut or cave for your fish?”
  • June 30th: New video—“AquariumKids is on Patreon! What's that?”

July:

  • July 10th: New video—“The Top 5 Tank Mates for Guppies.”
  • July 23rd: AquariumKids reaches 100,000 fans.
  • July 25th: AquariumKids reaches 100,000 Facebook page likes.
  • July 27th: New video—“Koi Fish at the Lan Su Chinese Garden.”

August:

  • August 26th: AquariumKids turns 5 years old.
  • August 31st: New video—“Water Chemistry Video Lecture (Introduction to Freshwater Ecology).”

September:

  • September 1st: AquariumKids releases its No Straw November page.
  • September 23rd: AquariumKids is mentioned in The Campanile.
  • September 30th: New video—“Fish-onomics #1.”

October:

  • October 1st: The Paly Environmental Clubs Organization and AquariumKids' No Straw November pledge form goes live.
  • October 20th: The Duveneck Harvest Carnival does not give away goldfish due to efforts by AquariumKids.
  • October 29th: The Paly Environmental Clubs Organization tables for No Straw November, while AquariumKids collects sign-ups online.
  • October 31st: The Paly Environmental Clubs Organization tables for No Straw November, while AquariumKids collects sign-ups online.

November:

  • November 1st–November 30th: The Paly Environmental Clubs Organization and AquariumKids bring Jr Ocean Guardians' No Straw November to Palo Alto High School for the first year.
  • November 1st: Paly YCS–Interact Club creates posters for No Straw November at Palo Alto High School.
  • November 7th: AquariumKids is mentioned in C Magazine.
  • November 8th: New video—“The Economic Principles Behind No Straw November at Paly.”
  • November 11th: AquariumKids reaches 200,000 fans.
  • November 16th: AquariumKids reaches 200,000 Facebook page likes.
  • November 16th: The Paly Environmental Clubs Organization and AquariumKids give away Jr Ocean Guardian pins for No Straw November.
  • November 17th: AquariumKids launches Aquatic Content Promotion on Facebook.
  • November 25th: AquariumKids ceases activity on Google+, Kik, Snapchat, VSCO, and Soundcloud.

December:

  • December 1st–December 15th: AquariumKids founder Evan Baldonado collects donations for Ocean Conservancy for his 18th birthday.
  • December 7th: AquariumKids is featured in The Sunday Lens.
  • December 30th: AquariumKids releases its 2018 timeline.
